Gradient Geothermal signs partnership to power AI factories with geothermal
Gradient Geothermal and Muir Global Holdings will evaluate the use of geothermal electricity from legacy oil and gas infrastructure to power AI data clusters.
Denver, Colorado-based geothermal company Gradient Geothermal has announced the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Muir Global Holdings, LLC, incubating GEOT.Ai.
The partnership aims to develop behind-the-meter geothermal power solutions for AI factories, beginning with a proposed 5-MW pilot project in the Los Angeles Basin in southern California. Other strategic locations are also under consideration.
Through Gradient Geothermal’s field-proven geothermal and Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology, legacy oil and gas infrastructure can be transformed into regenerative, net-zero energy platforms that power high-density AI compute clusters.

The Los Angeles Basin is the site of several mature oil fields with historically high produced water volumes and proven geothermal resources at depth. Gradient’s low to zero-model aims to repurpose existing wellbores and brownfield infrastructure, accelerating deployment of geothermal power by up to 94% and generating electricity in months rather than years.
GEOT.AI is an infrastructure platform developing vertically integrated, net-zero AI factories power by localized energy solutions. Integrating geothermal power into these facilities will help reduce grid dependence while strengthening the leadership of the United States in AI technology and capacity.
“This collaboration represents the convergence of geothermal energy and AI infrastructure,” said Benjamin Burke, CEO of Gradient Geothermal. “We are building a resilient, secure, and net-zero foundation for next-generation AI Factories empower both on-premises power solutions and local power generation within an urban community.”
“By anchoring AI factories directly to sovereign, regenerative energy, we are redefining the infrastructure of AI,” added Jenifer Muir, Founder & CEO of Muir Global Holdings and GEOT.Ai.
