Summer break – ThinkGeoEnergy to come back on 21 July 2026
ThinkGeoEnergy will be taking a 2-week summer break and will be back with regular news reporting on the 21st of July 2026.
As we do every year, team ThinkGeoEnergy will be taking a two-week summer break. We will be back with regular news reporting starting 21 July 2026, and the next edition of our weekly newsletter will be out on 28 July. No news articles will be published during this two-week period. However, we will maintain some activity on our social media pages, so check us out on LinkedIn and Instagram.
Beyond just giving us a chance to recharge, our annual summer break is also the perfect time to recalibrate our plans and roll out major changes. This year, part of the agenda is releasing the redesign of our website. We are evolving along with the industry, and it is time that our website reflects that change. This will happen over the next couple of days, and we invite you to poke around and check out the new site when it comes online
At the halfway point, there are already several notable milestones for geothermal this year. We have seen the biggest IPO of a geothermal company, the first operational deep geothermal power plant in the UK, Kenya officially joining the 1-GW geothermal club, and the massively successful World Geothermal Congress 2026 held in Calgary. The industry continues to trudge along in the right direction, although plenty of work is still needed to get the pace of this progress at the rate we aspire for.
What else are we looking forward to for the rest of 2026? The long-awaited EU Geothermal Action Plan is expected to play a major role in shaping policies in the EU that will facilitate the deployment of geothermal technologies. The first geothermal power plant in Dominica is also now commissioning and is expected to start commercial operations soon. We eagerly await progress in many emerging technologies that seek to expand the deployment potential of geothermal, whether it’s in EGS, superhot, or closed-loop systems.
While we are away, please check out our YouTube page where we upload all our webinar recordings, as well as the video interviews we record from geothermal events around the world. We have also recently published a free geothermal market report in collaboration with Rystad Energy, which is available on our Publications page.
In two weeks, we will be back with a fresh new look and the same geothermal news reporting that you have come to know us for. Until then, we wish all our readers a good summer break and we hope that you get a chance to recharge as well.
