Geothermal startups are invited to submit applications for potential funding under the “Young Innovators” program of Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). The funding will represent the presence of geothermal startups at the exhibition area of the upcoming GeoTHERM expo & congress, taking place on 25-26 February 2027 in Offenburg, Germany.
The funding will cover up to 60% of costs related to the exhibition stand at the event. The eligible participants will be part of the “Young Innovative Companies” joint stand which will showcase the freshest and most innovative companies in the geothermal space.
Registration for the “Young Innovators” joint stand is open only until 27 November 2026. The registration form can be downloaded via this link.
Take note that the BAFA (Bundesamt für Wirtschaft und Ausfuhrkontrolle / Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control) funding is being offered only to companies based in Germany. Other eligibility conditions are as follows:
- Small enterprises as defined by the EU – fewer than 50 employees and annual turnover/balance sheet total not exceeding EUR 10 million
- Company age less than 10 years
- Affiliation with industry or trade
Start-ups based outside of Germany can instead be part of the international Start-Up area. Instructions to participate through this pathway can be accessed via this link.
The next iteration of GeoTHERM will be extra special as the trade fair celebrates its 20th anniversary. As the leading trade fair and conference for geothermal energy, the event has been bringing together experts from the worlds of science, business and industry for two decades, providing important impetus for the future of sustainable energy generation. Early-bird registration to GeoTHERM 2027 is still open.
