AlJazeera America provides an lengthy and very interesting view on the current entrenched debate on the expansion of geothermal in the islands of Hawaii.

It is well known that Geothermal energy in Hawaii generates a strong debate. As recently reported by us (Latest news), the Puna Geothermal plant is supported by those who want to see a reduction of electricity costs in the islands, considering that most of the electricity has to be imported and generates high costs for businesses and consumers. On the other hand, citizens have concerns, some justified, regarding the expansion of geothermal and the start up of new projects.

Amidst this controversy, AlJazeera has published an interesting article covering the matter.
