The Canadian province of British Columbia sends out notice of tender for a geothermal lease sale.

“Pursuant to Section 5 of the Geothermal Resources Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, Chapter 171, (the “Act”) sealed bids addressed to the Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, and mailed or delivered to the office of the Executive Director, Oil and Gas Titles Branch, Titles, Aboriginal and Corporate Relations Division, 6th floor, 1810 Blanshard Street, PO Box 9326 Stn Prov Gov’t, Victoria BC V8W 9N3, must be received before 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time, Tuesday, October 26, 2010, for the privilege of obtaining Geothermal Resources, as detailed below and depicted on the attached map.  Accepted bids will be determined, based on the highest acceptable cash bonus and will be announced after 12 p.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2010.

Bidding procedures and conditions are defined in Information Letter TITLES-10-01 available from the Titles, Aboriginal and Corporate Relations Division, 6th floor, 1810 Blanshard Street, Victoria, BC V8W 9N3, telephone (250) 952-0333.

Bids that do not meet the requirements specified in Information Letter TITLES-10-01 will not be accepted.

The terms included in this Notice of Public Tender are a condensed version of referral comments received from provincial resource management agencies, regional districts, municipalities and First Nations.  Some parcels may be located in areas with active guide outfitter territories and traplines.  Tenure holders should seek direction/guidance from the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources when planning exploration activities.  General information on the location and contacts for specific guide outfitter territories and traplines is available from the Wildlife Technician, Nanaimo Regional Office, Ministry of Environment, telephone (250) 751-3166.  For more information about referral comments received from participating agencies, please contact the Director, Resource Policy and Planning, Titles Branch, Titles, Aboriginal and Corporate Relations Division at (250) 952-0333 or fax (250) 952-0331.

In addition to any  terms listed in this notice, successful bidders should be aware that they will be required to abide by the various acts and regulations governing exploration and development whether or not specific restrictions are listed in this notice.
