In likely one of the first crowdfunding campaigns by a renewable energy organization, the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association (CanGEA) has now started a campaign to raise money for the promotion and kickstarting interest in geothermal energy in Canada.

In a campaign launched today, the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association is asking for support by the general public.

The grassroots clean energy campaign, ‘powEARTHful’ Energy, is launched to ask renewable energy supporters to help CanGEA to show the Canadian government the need for a clean energy future.

With the participation from supporters CanGEA trusts it will have the power to carry that vision forward, while also creating international business development opportunities for supporting entities and individuals as well.

CanGEA, as the collective voice for Canada’s geothermal energy industry, wants to get the geothermal energy industry going in Canada. They have been working really hard at this for years. The next step in these efforts by CanGEA is the now launched crowd funding campaign to raise the awareness and money that the industry desperately needs for policy change. The initiative has already been called a first for crowd-funding by the media!

See what others are already saying about the campaign here, here and here.

Success stories tell that with early contributions, these campaigns thrive and exceed their funding goal. CanGEA is asking that you take a few minutes to contribute to this campaign right now and pass it on to other supporters you know. Even a small contribution and forwarding this info to a colleague will go a long way: http://igg.me/at/powEARTHful

Plus, there is a tonne of great info contained in the campaign pitch about geothermal energy, CanGEA and what’s going on (or not) in Canada.  Enjoy the read, I guarantee you’ll learn something that you didn’t know before!

CanGEA is asking for support not only for the campaign but also for spreading the word about the efforts for a geothermal energy future.
