CeraPhi Energy has been selected as one of 20 organizations for a GBP 10 million grant from NZTC for developing clean energy tech and achieving the UK's net zero goals.

UK-based geothermal energy specialist CeraPhi Energy has been selected as one of 20 winners of a GBP 10-million funding competition held by the Net Zero Technology Center (NZTC). This is part of the Open Innovation Programme that aims to develop technology for reducing offshore emissions, accelerating the production of clean energy, and aiding with the UK’s net zero goals.

CeraPhi Energy was selected as a winner under the “Late Life and Decommissioning” category for their work converting oil and gas liabilities into geothermal assets. More specifically, the grant will support the company’s onshore field demonstrator that is due to commence soon.

The 20 winners of the GBP 10 million grant were selected from 154 applicants. This selection is only for the first tranche of funding, corresponding to GBP 8 million. A second round for the remained of the funding will be announced later. Joining CeraPhi Energy in the selection are companies and other organizations working on projects in the categories of renewables and energy storage, carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), hydrogen and clean fuels, and zero emissions power.

CeraPhi Energy has had a very productive year with partnerships formed with Halliburton and Calder, a funding round to raise capital, and a collaboration with Climate Change Ventures to produce Green Hydrogen using geothermal power.
