Geothermal Energy Market of Tanzania
Located south of its neighbour Kenya, Tanzania has ambitious geothermal development plans. While the estimated 5,000 MW of potential is likely too hopeful, there are nevertheless great opportunities for development. The country has established a national Geothermal Development Company (TGDC) that is to drill for resources. Its energy market is mostly fuelled by hydropower and natural gas. No current utilisation of geothermal energy is reported. With a planned four projects there is a development target of 200 MW by 2025.
