German geothermal developer Deutsche ErdWärme has added a fourth geothermal development in the Upper Rhine region of Baden-Württemberg, Germany to its portfolio.

Deutsche ErdWärme is expanding its portfolio with another development project in Dettenheim, Baden-Württemberg in Germany, so the company in an announcement today.

Managing Director Dr. Herbert Pohl and Roman Link, representative for municipal affairs, officially presented the development approach for a geothermal system of Deutsche ErdWärme to the Dettenheim municipal council on November 24, 2020 and asked for a municipal property to be provided as a project location. The local council took note of the matter and unanimously decided to examine the property issue. The prerequisite for this is that Deutsche ErdWärme also informs the citizens of Dettenheim in an appropriate manner about its project. As a result of the 3D seismic measurements successfully completed in 2019, Dettenheim was identified as a promising location for a geothermal project. After Graben-Neudorf, Karlsruhe-Neureut and Waghäusel, Dettenheim is the fourth place where the company is planning a geothermal system.

“We are pleased that the local council is generally open to the subject of geothermal energy. We are happy to respond to the request to first inform the citizens about the project. The dialogue and exchange with the citizens is very important to us. We cordially invite all residents of Dettenheim to take advantage of our digital consultation hours now. There we are available for questions and suggestions from the citizens even in times of limited opportunities to meet, ”says Herbert Pohl.

In the next step, Deutsche ErdWärme will shortly be distributing a comprehensive information brochure to all households in Dettenheim. An information event for local residents in Dettenheim is planned for the first quarter of 2021, provided that the current Corona regulation allows it. In addition to the development concept, the citizens get an insight into the geology on site and learn how to identify locations on the surface based on this. The potentially suitable areas for a geothermal system in Dettenheim are located in the Russheim district in the Gewann Schiffmächerstücker and in the Gewann Weidfeld. Most of these are owned by the municipality.
