Drilling starts for geothermal heating project in Serock, Poland
Drilling of an exploration well has started in Serock, Poland to evaluate the feasibility of geothermal supply to the district heating system.
Drilling work has started for a planned geothermal heating project in the city of Serock in the Masovian Voivodeship in Poland. The project is being overseen by Multiconsult Polska as Owner’s Engineer and ALGEO is acting as the drilling contractor.
The Serock GT-1 well is being drilled to a target depth of 1670 meters where thermal waters at about 40-44 ºC are expected based on previous geological analyses. The goal for this phase of the project is to evaluate the parameters of the thermal waters, and determine if it is suitable to supply the district heating system and future recreational and balneological projects.
Serock was one of the ten communes selected to receive funding for geothermal heating projects in 2024 by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW) under the “Providing access to thermal waters in Poland” program. The investment subsidy totals PLN 13.96 million (approx. USD 3.8 million).
