Geodynamics is to commence drilling at its JV project with Origin at Innamincka Shallows/ Cooper Basin.

In a release by the company, Australian “Geodynamics, as Joint Venture partner with Origin Energy on the Innamincka ‘Shallows’ Joint Venture (‘Shallows’), advises that an initial two well Hot Sedimentary Aquifer exploration program is to shortly commence on Geodynamics’ Cooper Basin tenement area. Geodynamics and Origin Energy share a 50% interest in the Innamincka ‘Shallows’ Joint Venture and Origin Energy is operator.

As previously announced, Rig 100 is being released from the Innamincka ‘Deeps’ Joint Venture (‘Deeps’) to the ‘Shallows’ exploration area, located in close proximity to Geodynamics’ ‘Deeps’ well sites and Habanero camp on the Company’s Cooper Basin tenement area.

Spudding of the first of two ‘Shallows’ exploration wells is planned to commence on 17 December 2010, to approximately 2 km depth, and is designed to test a number of parameters including temperature, porosity and permeability. Results from initial exploration are expected during the first half of 2011.

While in the early exploration phase, the ‘Shallows’ project diversifies and extends Geodynamics’ geothermal portfolio and, if successful, has the potential through further appraisal and development to deliver geothermal electricity production earlier to market from the Cooper Basin area.”
