Energy Development Corp, following its usual corporate social responsibility program has granted 400 high school scholarships with full tuition support and a minimal stipend for students in Negros Oriental

EDC once again has engaged in supporting the local communities by granting scholarships to 400 high school students in Valencia, (Negros Oriental) in the Philippines.

According to local news, students from San Pedro Academy-Recoletos, Balugo National High School, Pulangbato National High School, and Valencia National High School were granted these special scholarships.

“We express our sincerest gratitude to EDC for helping us fulfill our dreams of a brighter future for ourselves and for our family,” said Celina Nuay, EDC scholar from Valencia National High School.

The same source explains that scholars get full tuition support and a minimal stipend for one school year, and they have to maintain their high grades and good conduct until they graduate from high school to remain in EDC’s scholarship program.

“Their appreciation for our scholarship program warms our hearts but in the end, it is the act of giving especially to these young people that brings us true joy,” said Noreen G. Bautista, EDC’s Community Partnerships head on Negros Island.

EDC has been implementing its high school scholarship program in all its operating facilities in Negros, Leyte, Bicol and North Cotabato for almost 10 years now, and thousands of EDC scholars have graduated in high school with flying colors and gone on to study in the country’s top colleges and universities.

EDC has committed to uplift the lives of the people in its host communities because they consider them partners in progress. For this reason, EDC has named its corporate social responsibility program as Community Partnerships focused on Health, Education, Livelihood and Environment or HELEn.
