During a briefing of Liao Shengcong, Vice President of China National Electric Engineering Company Ltd, Ethiopian president Mulatu Teshome has called on Chinese investors to boost their involvement in geothermal and renewable energy.

The above remark was made by the president, following the briefing of Liao Shengcong, Vice President of China National Electric Engineering Company Ltd about Reppie Waste-to- energy Power Plant Project it has been building around the capital city.

Ethiopia has immense geothermal, solar, wind and other renewable resources, Mulatu said, adding that the government is committed to providing all the necessary support to investors who want to engage in the sector in the country.

The president further urged the company and other Chinese companies to expand their businesses to others areas.

Vice President Shengcong ensured that president that the project would be completed after a year as per the schedule.

Upon going fully operational the project is expected to process 1,000 tons of waste every day and produce 25 megawatt electric power, it was indicated.

The development, design and construction of the project are conducted by Cambridge Industries Ltd (CIL) and its partner China National Electric Engineering Company.
