Ethiopian geothermal opportunity?

A Canadian mining company working on a potash project in Ethiopia in proximity to geothermal resources in Eritrea and Djibouti in the African Rift Valley, which could play a role in geothermal development.

Just found a news article that might be a geothermal wide shot, but thought it might be worth as a piece of thought. Geothermal development could and can happen through mining companies. A good example of that is the geothermal power plant in proximity to Lihir Goldmines on Lihir Islands in Papua New Guinea.

So when I read this article that talks about a Canadian mining company, Allana Resources, working on a potash project in Ethiopia in proximity to geothermal resources in Eritrea and Djibouti in the African Rift Valley, then this automatically rang a bell.  The company has a concession in Ethiopia to mine. With a field reconnaissance survey program the region will be “structurally and geologically mapped, there will be a satellite interpretation and sampling of geothermal brines from active hot springs.”

The findings of that research could be easily utilized for geothermal research in the region and potentially provide power to any future mining operation. .. but again this is just a wild shot.
