Independents experts have assessed the geothermal potential of the Millungera Basin in Queensland, Australia, supporting the decision of Greenvale Mining for further exploration .

Greenvale Mining (GRV) has received confirmation from Ascendience Geoscience that there is significant geothermal potential within the Millungera Basin in Queensland, Australia. The independent exprts of Ascendience have determine that the basin has a total stored thermal energy likely (90% probability) in excess of 611,000 petajoules or equivalent to about 170 million gigawatt-hours.

Ascendience Geoscience was engaged by GRV to conduct an assessment of the studies done on the region by the Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ). The Millungera Basin is considered one of the most highly prospective areas geologically in Australia and has been the subject of several geologic, geophysical, and thermal gradient studies in the past.

“The independent confirmation of the geothermal potential of the Millungera Basin supports our decision to prioritise exploration of this area and allows us to move forward with the planning of a comprehensive exploration program,” said GRV CEO Mark Turney.

GRV has also been awarded exploration permits for two areas in Millungera Basin, namely Julia Creek and Longreach. These permits will allow GRV to assess the mineral potential of the Millungera Basin. On-ground activities are planned for the first half of 2023.
