Utilising lava rocks for filtration and geothermal energy in the distillation process, an Icelandic firm has created a geothermal vodka ... likely only one of many different food and beverage items created with geothermal energy.

We have reported about “geothermal” beer before and there various other incredible other food and beverage items created with the support of geothermal energy.

So stumbling about this story about this “geothermal” vodka from Iceland, I thought I had to share. Interesting enough some now nearly 10 years ago, we actually sent some bottles to business partners as Christmas presents. In retropersective, it might have been not such a great idea – as there clearly are some cultural differences and sending alcohol as a gift might not haven been the proper thing to do.  At the time we thought that sending a product produced with geothermal energy was a great present.

The Reyka vodka of Iceland has been produced in Iceland for now more than 10 years. Produced from glacial water, utilising lava rocks for filtering, and geothermal powers the distillation process.

So maybe sharing the story of the geothermal vodka from Iceland, I can encourage you to send in some other examples of food and beverages produced with geothermal energy.
