Australian Geodynamics reports it has completed the drilling for its Habanero 4 geothermal well at the Cooper Basin in Australia, moving now on to prepare stimulation and testing of the well.

Australian Geodynamics reports this morning it has completed drilling of its Habanero 4 geothermal well in the Cooper Basin, Australia.

Habanero 4 is the first of three key stages in the refocused field program for the Innamincka Deeps geothermal project a joint venture in which Geodynamics holds 70 percent and Orign Energy 30 percent.

“In the second stage the company now plans a testing program that includes open and closed loop flow trials to help gain further information about the flow characteristics of the reservoir, the temperature behaviour and the composition of reservoir fluids over time.

This will lead to the commissioning and trialling of the 1 megawatt equivalent Habanero Pilot Plant.

Completing these three stages will enable Geodynamics to gather sufficient drilling and engineering data required to confidently contract with a customer and move the project forward into detailed design and construction stages.”

Geodynmics is also planning to drill a fifth Habanero well with the goal of moving from operating in a single fracture into multiple fractures.”
