Geodynamics is now preparing a four-well exploration drilling program for its Savo geothermal project in the Solomon Islands. It plans to bring the plant online in 2017 and transfer power via cable to Honiara.

Australian Geodynamics has taken an important step to accelerate its development of the Savo geothermal power project on the Solomon Islands. It submitted the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment report to the government last week.

The company is now working diligently on the preparation of its planned four-well exploration drilling program, according to project director Gregory Wong in local papers. The company has chosen an area of interest in the “south-east quadrant of Savo island” as drilling location.

“Further consultation with key stakeholder groups on land access arrangements and engagement on results of the Environmental and Social Assessment area planned for the coming months,”

“The project is being developed by Geodynamics Limited and its joint venture partner Kentor Energy Pty Ltd.

The project is planned to be operational in 2017 and will provide a more reliable source of electricity at reduced end user prices.

Developers said electricity will be brought to Honiara via under water cables and sold to Solomon Islands Electricity Authority.”
