The installed capacity for geothermal power production in the country is, to date, about 958 megawatts (MW); representing only 2.2% of total energy used in the country.

It is well know that Mexico is a large geothermal energy producer and according to a local newspaper, the installed for geothermal power production in the country is, to date, about 958 megawatts (MW); only 2.2% of total energy used currently in the country.

The same source states that the geothermal potential of the country is close to 9700 MW, utilizing only a mere 10% of the available potential.

By June, SENER will make public the round cero for geothermal in the country which is expected to expand the geothermal projects in the country.
