The John L. Featherstone (Hudson Ranch I) geothermal power plant at the Salton Sea, California has been named the Geothermal Project of the Year 2012.

Announced by video yesterday, the John L. Featherstone (Hudson Ranch I) geothermal power plant has won the “geothermal project of the year” by the editors of Power Engineering magazine, Renewable Energy World and PennWell Corp.

In its Annual Projects of the Year Awards program, the companies had chose finalists from eight major categories: coal, gas, nuclear, solar, wind, bioenergy, hydro and geothermal.

The finalists for the geothermal project of the year, were the John L. Featherstone geothermal plant and the geothermal power plant project on the Caribbean island state of Dominica.

The winners were supposed to be named on December 10th, but the video announcing the winner have been published on Thursday last week.
