10 firms are said to be interested to participate in the selection and appointment of the independent power producer administrator (IPPA) for the Mindanao I and II (Mt. Apo 1 and 2) geothermal power plants.

As stated in the press release:

Of the 10 companies, two are foreign-owned entities and eight are Filipino companies, said Psalm President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel R. Ledesma in a text message. “There were 10 interested bidders which submitted their letters of interest before the deadline set on May 30,”Ledesma added. The Mt. Apo 1 and Mt. Apo 2 geothermal power plants have rated capacities of 54.24 megawatt each, and are situated in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato.

Included in the Mt. Apo IPPA deal is the management for the government’s contracted energy output in the Mt. Apo 1 and 2, which are 390 gigawatt-hours (GWh) and 398 GWh per year, respectively. Psalm will bid out the contract to sell the output of Apo 1 and 2 geothermal power plants on September 25. A pre-bid conference is set on June 26. This will be Psalm’s first IPPA auction in the Mindanao region and its third privatization activity this year.
