The document provides technical information and recommendations for action for investment decision in favour of deep geothermal applications in Germany.

Just as announced yesterday, Germany’s largest utility is focusing on renewable development and the Federal Government is also following suit. A recent brochure printed in English by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy provides a great inshight to the possibiliites of develpoing deep geothermal projects in the country.

In the document it is stated that “The German government has defined ambitious climate protection targets, and with the legislative package on speeding up the energy transition adopted in June 2011, is increasingly pushing forward
the development of a sustainable energy supply taking into consideration the needs of German industry to remain competitive.”

Regarding geothermal development, “In addition to the use of hydropower, biomass, solar power and wind power, the use of geothermal energy also plays an increasingly important role in this context. The geothermal market is growing so
fast that there is currently a juxtaposition of professional planning on the one hand and information demand on the other.”
