As an official media partner of GEOLAC 2023, PiensaGeotermia did an interview with Juan Pablo Restrepo of EPM on their approach to geothermal in Colombia.
In the run-up to the 10th Geothermal Energy Congress of Latin America and the Caribbean (GEOLAC), PiensaGeotermia had the privilege of interviewing Juan Pablo Restrepo, representative of public utility services company Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM).
In this exclusive interview, Restrepo shares details about EPM’s approach to geothermal energy and its expanded vision for Colombia and the region.
“Geothermal energy could be a key pillar in EPM’s energy diversification strategy,” Restrepo stated at the beginning of the interview. At a time when the transition towards more sustainable energy sources is crucial, EPM has adopted an approach towards geothermal energy as a viable and promising option.
During the conversation, Restrepo highlighted EPM’s commitment to promoting the application of subsoil and geothermal technologies. “We are investing significantly efforts to carry out geothermal development in Colombia and we are doing this with important partners such as Ecopetrol and Baker Hughes,” he stated.
