Iceland GeoSurvey is seeking to fill a position of Seismology Specialist at its office in Iceland.

Iceland GeoSurvey (ÍSOR) invites applications for the position of a seismology specialist.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Primarily micro-earthquake monitoring of geothermal fields.
  • Operation and maintenance of local seismic networks and SeisComp3 pro seismic software.
  • Interpretation of collected data including comparisons with other geoscientific data.
  • Assistance in various projects.

Educational and skills requirements

  • Relevant university education, e.g. in geosciences, physics, math, computer science or engineering.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems and programming skills is desirable.
  • Experience of installation and operation of seismic networks is preferred.
  • Initiative and disciplined work ethic.
  • Communication skills.
  • Good command of the English language, oral and written.

The successful candidate will be stationed at ÍSOR‘s offices in Reykjavík. Salary is according to the relevant union contract. Nationals of EEA/EFTA countries do not require a residence permit to live in Iceland.
