U.S. geothermal operator and developer Cyrq Energy is seeking to fill the position of VP Operations based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

U.S.-based geothermal operator and developer Cyrq Energy is seeking to fill a position of VP Operations. Cyrq Energy was founded in 2011 and has been providing electricity generated by geothermal energy for the past decade to a number of forward-thinking clients across several Western U.S. states. The company is doing its part to transition the grid from relying on hydrocarbon-based energy to a clean, green energy future and expects to grow significantly over the next 10 years.

Cyrq, has acquired underperforming assets and turned them around to operate effectively and efficiently and has developed our own geothermal and solar assets. Today, we own, operate, and manage a fleet of 6 geothermal energy projects and 1 large solar energy project co-located at one of our sites in Nevada.

Job: V.P. Operations – Salt Lake City, Utah 84101 – travel between plants

Job Purpose

The Vice President of Operations oversees strategic operations of Cyrq’s geothermal power plants and one solar field.  They are responsible for collaborating with the Safety Team to drive employee-owned safety with strong emphasis on proactive measures.  They focus on strategic planning and goal-setting, directing operations, and professional growth of plant operations personnel. They support plant managers in budget development and tracking to show progress and communicate accordingly; ensuring operations meet revenue and budget expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety, Work closely with corporate Safety Team to encourage employee ownership of their safety and of those around them with emphasis on proactive measures.

Provide leadership for Operations Team, Coach and performance manage direct reports. Formulate policies and strategic plans for future growth.  Establish long-range objectives and specify the strategies and actions to achieve them.

Budget, generation, and profit management, Improve operational efficiency. Maintain profit margins, according to established objectives.

Plant Operation Management, Lead plant manager team in their objectives of efficiently and effectively operating their plants.  This may include inspecting sites, monitoring equipment, reviewing operational plans and supporting problem solving.

Collaborate to maximize the value of operating assets, Work closely with Resource and Engineering to operate geothermal fields to maximize generation over the life of the project.

Set expectations for Plant Managers and their team to: record, review or maintain daily logs, reports, maintenance, and other records associated with geothermal operations.

Systems Analysis – Partners with Engineering, Resource and Operations teams to develop efficient operating systems:  KPIs, problem resolution, root cause analysis, etc.

Communication in all forms, provide timely and succinct updates to management to , especially as issues are identified.

Minimum Education, Experience & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of combined cycle or ORC power plant experience or training equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the field of power plant management
