With 23 geothermal plants in operation, 15 in planning stages, Bavaria is one of the hottest geothermal markets in Europe today. So don't miss the 9th Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern - key event for the region - to take place October 14, 2020 - both online and onsite.

More than 15 geothermal plants are actually in the planning stage in Bavaria. Some of them ready to drill. This becomes even more attractive with the actual discussed amendments to the Renewable Sources Act (EEG). This is the framework for this year’s Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern, taking place on October 14, 2020 in Pullach as well as online. Now also with simultaneous translation to English will be offered for the online participants.

More than 23 geothermal plants are online in Bavaria. Two more are close to inauguration. But an enormous growth can be expected from the plants in development. Especially the region east of East of Lake Chiem shows a high project concentration. Within this development the ninth Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern will take place. The program focuses on the special strength of deep geothermal energy – the coupled generation of electricity and heat or cold. This is where deep geothermal energy can reach its full potential.

Parallel forums in the morning: Geothermal heat utilization and power plant technology

On the morning of the congress day Forum I discusses the many possibilities of geothermal heat use and connecting grids. How industrial companies can be supplied with deep geothermal energy or how to integrate geothermal heat sources in the best possible way into existing heat networks are topics in Forum I.

At the same time, there will be online a Forum on power plants, where among others the Italian manufacturer of ORC systems Turboden will give an update on the latest developments in power plant technology.

From electricity production to heat supply

In Forum II in the afternoon, the focus is on the coupling of electricity and heat. Currently highly interesting is the further development of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG). Here, Cornelia Viertl from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy will present and discuss the impact of the EEG amendment on deep geothermal energy. Oliver Friedlaender from Silenos Energy GmbH will report on the development and commissioning of the Garching geothermal plant, which has an innovative water cooling system. Further presentations will deal with optimizing the electricity cost of geothermal plant, introduced by Dr. Thomas Reif and the transformation of the Kirchweidach electricity facility to a combined plant is presented by the SWM.

Geothermal Energy Price Bavaria

In 2020, the Geothermie.Bayern Praxisforum will once again be honoring the best Bavarian geothermal systems in the categories of heat and the combined use of electricity and heat. They give an example of how successfully geothermal energy contributes to the electricity and heat supply in Bavaria. Also, Young scientists will be rewarded to support them as important pioneers for the development of the technology. The Christian Hecht Prize honors the best work in the field of applied deep geothermal energy for the third time, supported by Pfalzwerke Geofuture and GDMB.

Participate online with simultaneous translation in English

Due to the Corona pandemic, the Praxisforum Geothermie.Bavaria will take place on a smaller scale this year. Initially, only 50 tickets for the event are on sale at the Bürgerhaus Pullach. For other interested parties, however, there is the possible of participating at the Praxisforum via webinar, to follow the lectures and to discuss via chat.

Simultaneous translation in English is planned for the webinar, so that the international geothermal scene can also participate in the practical forum. This additional offer will be implemented with more than six registrations.
