A recent article provides details about the rather interesting project by Simbol Materials, that looks at extracting lithium from geothermal brine from a nearby geothermal power plant.

In an article in the Think GEOENERGY Magazine, we wrote about the opportunities in geothermal brine beyond the generation of power. The project by Simbol Materials in the Salton Sea that looks at extracting Lithium and other metals from geothermal brine is therefore a rather interesting example of the opportunities.

A recent local article actually describes the process and the company quite nicely and also published a short video (see below).

The article describes to some extent the extraction process and the challenges with regards to secrecy in the actual process and technology.
