Maren Maras Elektrik Üretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Maren Maras), part of Kipas Holding, is planning to develop three geothermal power plants with a total installed capacity of 99 MWe and a resource exploration project in the Germencik district of Aydin, Türkiye. The Final Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report for the project has been submitted to the relevant authorities.
The project, planned to be implemented in the J-552 geothermal resource operating license area covering the Camikebir, Çamköy, Hidirbeyli, Mursalli, and Reisköy neighborhoods, will consist of three power plants, each with a capacity of 33 MWe.
Within the scope of the project, a total of 27 well locations were determined , with 6 production wells and 3 reinjection wells allocated for drilling for each power plant. Power plants will use binary cycle technology, with an estimated requirement of 5,400 tons of geothermal fluid, with a maximum of 1,800 tons per unit per hour. The project is expected to generate 730 GWh of electricity annually and transfer the generated energy to the national interconnected grid.
According to the EIA report, the total investment cost of the project is estimated at TRY 1.82 billion TL (approx. USD 37.25 million).
In 2025, Maren Maras announced the start of operations of the Nezihe Beren 2 (13 MWe) and Emir (33 MWe) geothermal power plants in Aydin, both using binary cycle technology supplied by Exergy. Kipas Holding seeks to further strengthen its position in the Turkish geothermal power sector, where it already accounts for about 15% of the installed capacity.
