Marubeni is starting survey work on a geothermal project in Daisetsuzan National Park in Japan.

Japanese Marubeni corp. has started a geothermal ground survey for a planned project in Daisetsuzan National Park on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido.

The project in the Kaimkawa-cho Sawaji white water district will now conduct a ground survey with topographical survey on the geological settings, hot spring water analysis and a survey on the environmental characteristics of the planned site.

The company plans to be finished with the survey work in February next year. If there is sufficient evidence of geothermal resources, more tests will follow.

The project site is near the Sounkyo hot spring area in the park.
