Ten geothermal operators in Turkey have established a new geothermal energy association, Jeotermal Enerji Dernegi (JED).

Geothermal Energy Association (Jeotermal Enerji Dernegi, JED) has announced the start of their activities. This new association is established by 10 founding members, whom are all industry leaders in Turkey’s incredible geothermal journey of the recent years.

The goal of association is set to work with all sector stakeholders, including public, private and NGOs, to make geothermal energy contribute to the national economy in a wide range without being limited to electricity generation, and to create the perception of domestic, clean, renewable and reliable geothermal energy with positive content and communication in the public opinion on behalf of the whole sector.  Beside JED also targets to create strategic plans for the sustainable use of geothermal resources, activate the legislative processes, develop environmental and social policies, as well as managing the geothermal potential of our country in an optimum way are also among its activity objectives.

Established with the membership of corporate companies that make up two thirds of the installed power with investments in the geothermal energy sector, JED has determined its ethical principles and working principles with the “Code of Ethics Agreement” signed. JED stated that the main principles on the road set out with the commitment of its members are to bring the stakeholders of the sector together in line with a common goal, to strengthen the stakeholder relations, to ensure the widespread use of geothermal energy with production from the discovery to the production.
