Ormat Technologies has been awarded the EPC contract for the planned 30-MW Unalaska geothermal power plant in Alaska.

Ormat Technologies Inc. (Ormat) has been selected as the engineering & procurement contractor for the planned geothermal power plant in Unalaska, Alaska. The contract has an estimated cost of $90 million.

Earlier this year, we reported that the project had received USD 2.5 million in federal funding as announced by U.S. Senator for Alaska Lisa Murkowski. The project is a joint development by Chena Power  and the Qawalangin Tribe of Unalaska. It aims to build a 30-MW geothermal power plant in the Makushin Volcano project site, located 14 miles from the city. Power from the plant will then be transmitted to the city via underground/undersea cables.
