Ormat and the Mammoth Community Water District might soon reach an agreement that will allow to develop the geothermal project of Casa Diablo IV calming the fears of the local Californian community.

Following news from earlier this year, where Ormat faced the harsh accusations from the Mammoth Community Water District fearing the possibility of contaminating the water supplies or the local air if the geothermal project of Casa Diablo IV would be developed in the area.

According to a local news source, “The Water District says the goal of the new negotiations is to develop a mutually acceptable monitoring and mitigation program that “will protect the community’s water supply during the Project’s operation.” While the lawsuit against APCD is still pending, it is presumed that if the Water District and Ormat can reach some kind of monitoring and mitigation program, the suit will go away.”

It is good to see the the local watchdog is doing due diligence on developers and on the other hand that an agreement is close to develop geothermal energy in the region.
