Pekdemir Group launches geothermal exploration campaign in Denizli, Türkiye
Halil Pekdemir Farm, part of the Pekdemirler Group, plans to explore for geothermal resources in a licensed area in Sarayköy in Denizli, Türkiye.
Halil Pekdemir Farm Food and Necessities Trade and Industry Co. Ltd. (Halil Pekdemir Çiftligi Gida ve Ihtiyaç Maddeleri Ticaret ve Sanayi Ltd.), a farming, food production, and retail company, is launching a geothermal resource exploration project within the Ahmetli neighborhood of the Sarayköy district of Denizli province, Türkiye.
The project covers an area of approximately 8,253.75 hectares within license area number IR:54 ER:3341772.. The Project Introduction File (PTD) prepared by the company was reviewed by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was decided not to be required.
As part of the project, geothermal fluid exploration will be conducted through drilling at designated locations. These drilling operations aim to assess the region’s geothermal reserve potential, including its temperature, flow rate, and chemical properties. The data obtained as a result of the studies can be used to determine investment opportunities for agricultural production, greenhouse farming and heating applications in the region.
The EIA process has been completed
The Denizli Governor’s Office announced that the project was evaluated in accordance with Article 17 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulation, and a decision was made that “An Environmental Impact Assessment is Not Required.” With this decision, the company will be able to begin drilling preparation and geothermal surveys in the licensed area.
As one of the provinces with the highest geothermal potential in Türkiye, Denizli is a region where private sector investments and municipal projects have increased rapidly in recent years.
