Poland offers cooperation in geothermal to Dominican Republic
Polish Minister Piotr Dziadzi has offered the cooperation of Poland with Dominican Republic in the field of renewable energy, particularly in geothermal.
In a visit to Dominican Republic Minister of Energy and Mines Antonio Almonte, Undersecretary of State, National Geologist, Government Representative for State Raw Material Policies of the Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment Piotr Dziadzio expressed the interest of the Polish government to cooperate in the areas of mining and renewable energy, particularly in geothermal.
Dziadzio said that Poland has great experience in low and high-temperature geothermal energy, that the country has one of the largest geothermal plants in Europe and that it has the advanced equipment to monitor geothermal processes.
“The Government and the Dominican people are honored to have you here,” said Almonte.
During the visit, the two parties also signed a memorandum of understanding in the natural resources sector between the National Geologic Service (SGN) and the Polish Geological Institute that defines their cooperation, research, and project financing.
Earlier this year, the Republic of Poland published a geothermal development roadmap focusing on research, education, promotion, and execution of pilot installations. The document contains actions plans to minimize investment risk, including proposed legislative changes, for the development of shallow, low, medium, and high-temperature geothermal energy.
