The hazards of volcanic lava flows to geothermal development in Hawaii discussed at this recent Volcano Watch" by the U.S. Geological Survey's Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.

A recent article from Hawaii caught my eye and I thought it might be interesting for readers. The article: “Volcano Watch” asks if geothermal development can be balanced with volcanic hazards in Hawaii?” This is a weekly article written by scientists at the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.

While potential for the utilization of geothermal resources for power generation is the best in volcanic areas there are concerns about seismicity, emissions, but also – so it seems – on volcanic hazards.

The article describes the potential of volcanic activity possibly being a threat to geothermal development, but it does not write about development causing it.
