The Philippines Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM) plans to auction the independent power producer administration for the Mount Apo 1 and 2 geothermal facilities this year.

As part of news on the Philippines, Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM) plans for auctions on state-owned power plants, it is announced that it will also include two geothermal facilities.

PSALM President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel R. Ledesma Jr. said 2014 will be a busy year for the state firm that is task to manage, privatize and dispose all existing generation assets, liabilities and other disposable resources of the National Power Corp. (Napocor).

Among thermal and hydro facilities, PSALM plans to select  the independent power producer-administrator [IPPA] for Mount Apo 1 and 2 geothermal facilities.”

The IPPA contracts for the 44.52-MW Mount  Apo 1 geothermal plant and the 48-MW Mount Apo 2 geothermal facilities include the procurement of the power plants’ fuel requirements and management of the contracted energy output, including the sale of power and offering of ancillary services.

In 2013, PSALM successfully privatized several Napocor assets this year.
