PT Medco Energi receives an extension for its exploration permit for the Blawan-Ijen geothermal working area in East Java province in Indonesia.

Reported this week, PT Medco Cahaya Geothermal (MCG), developer of the Blawan-Ijen Geothermal Working Area with a potential of 110 MW, received a second extension of exploration period. The Blawan-Ijen Geothermal Working Area, is located in Bondowoso District, Banyuwangi Regency and Situbondo Regency, East Java Province.

As quoted from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources page, this extension is contained in Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 2686 K / 30 / MEM / 2017 on Second Extension of PT Medco Cahaya Geothermal Exploration Period.

The extension was granted after the Directorate General of New Energy, Renewable Energy and Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of ESDM evaluated the application of the Managing Director of PT MCG to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignatius Jonan, for the second extension of the exploration period.

“The extension of the exploration period is valid from May 25, 2017 to May 24, 2018,” said Head of Communication, Public Information Service and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana.
