RSC Elektrik plans to explore geothermal resource in Urla, Türkiye

The EIA has started for a proposed exploratory drilling programme by RSC Elektrik in the Urla District of Izmir, Türkiye for a geothermal power project.
RSC Elektrik has announced plans to drill three exploratory wells within a 4863-hectare area Demircili in the Urla District of Izmir, Türkiye. Information about the project has been published on the website of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, announcing as well that the EIA process for the project had already begun. The total cost of the project is calculated as 9,600,000 TL (approx. USD 484,600).
The potential of the field was determined by the geological and geophysical investigations in the region by the project owner, and the locations to be drilled were determined by evaluating these studies.
For geothermal resource exploration drilling, three boreholes will be drilled to a depth of 1000 meters. Well test procedures will then be carried out post-drilling. During the test operations, hydrogeological, geochemistry, and geophysical measurements are made. The data will then be assessed to make the final decision on whether the resource is appropriate and can support a geothermal power plant.
RSC Elektrik through RSC Electricity Generation Construction Tourism Inc. currently operates a 12-MWe geothermal power plant in the Seferihisar District in the Izmir Province. This power plant features a two-pressure level cycle on a single turbine from Exergy.
