EGEC is seeking your support in participating in this survey on the European Innovation Fund and how it could better position geothermal.

The Innovation Fund is now on its third call for project, and we are yet to see geothermal project receive support as part of the large-scale calls, so a call for participation in a survey by the European Geothermal Energy Council. This trend is threatening the relevance of the Innovation Fund which has not been able to achieve its mission of bringing innovative renewable energy technologies to market.

Please fill in this survey by 31.08.2022.

The European Commission is therefore looking at how the Fund could evolve to better incorporate geothermal energy projects and other renewable energy projects. This questionnaire will help EGEC in its effort to shape the revised Innovation Fund to finally make this facility accessible to geothermal project developers.

The Innovation Fund is a European Financing programme that stems from the EU ETS, which aims to invest part of the revenues from the European carbon trading scheme to the development of innovative clean energy technologies.

EGEC drafted a factsheet for the geothermal sector to better understand the relevance of the fund, and how geothermal project developers can make use of these resources.
