According to local news, Tanzania is likely to develop its geothermal potential starting at Lake Ngozi, according to the country’s deputy minister for Energy and Minerals.

“Tanzania boasts of having a large share of geothermal capable of producing over 5,000 megawatts, yet it lacks expertise and financial resources to tap it, Prof Mruma said. Prof Mruma said Tanzania had just embarked on a strategy to tap the potential including carrying out geophysical surveys and creating a public firm to oversee its development.
