S?nd?rg? Municipality in Turkey has won an award in the category of "Environment and Waste Management" in the 8th Golden Ant Awards project competition, which is accepted as the Oscar of Municipalities in Turkey, with its "Natural City Developing with Green Energy" project.

The Golden Ant (Alt?n Kar?nca) is an award where the Marmara Municipalities Union rewards the good practices implemented by the member municipalities. The aim of the Golden Ant is to contribute to the sustainable city life with high quality of life by rewarding the successful projects implemented by the municipalities in order to promote and spread good practice examples. With Golden Ant, projects realized by municipalities, not municipalities, are rewarded.

Sustainable Development Goals had a special place among the Evaluation Criteria of the Golden Ant Awards this year. S?nd?rg? Municipality was awarded in the Environment and Waste Management category with its “Natural City Developing with Green Energy” project.

S?nd?rg? Mayor Ekrem Yava? made the following statements regarding the award they were deemed worthy as a result of their work to use geothermal in heating, local development, fruit and vegetable drying and greenhouses of the village:

“We received our second award from the Marmara Municipalities Union and our oskary golden ant award from the municipality at a ceremony held in Istanbul. Indeed, when added to the adventure of Geothermal S?nd?rg?, which started in our period in 2004, we see that it has a great effect on the development and growth of the city. When integrated with the handicrafts of the people, its contribution to tourism is not an event that can be spent in vain. For this reason, among the municipal award in close to 380 projects in Turkey, with eminently made us happy. It is the development model of the Geothermal Sanitary. Geothermal is one of the most fundamental jobs that will grow S?nd?rg? in local development. This has been crowned with this award today.
