The U.S. Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) has announced the nominees for the inaugural GEA Honors, designed to recognize the individuals and companies that have made significant contributions to the development of the geothermal industry.

In a release today the U.S. Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) has announced the nominees for the inaugural GEA Honors, designed to recognize the individuals and companies that have made significant contributions to the development of the geothermal industry. Winners will be named at an awards dinner on August 16 in Reno, Nev. in conjunction with the first ever GEA National Geothermal Summit.

GEA Honors will be awarded to GEA member companies in three distinct areas: Technological Advancement, Economic Development and Environmental Stewardship. A Special Recognition Honor is open to the entire industry.

“It’s our duty as an association to highlight the efforts of companies and individuals that are advancing geothermal energy by leading the innovation, development and promotion of the industry through community engagement, education, and job creation,” said GEA’s Kathy Kent. “We are thrilled that we received such a strong response in GEA Honors’ inaugural year, and we look forward to honoring all of these nominees at our awards dinner at the GEA National Geothermal Summit next month.”

Awards are given in the categories Technological Advancement (nominees: Atlas Copco, Enel Green Power, GeoTek Energy, Nevada Geothermal Power, Star Energy and TAS Energy), Economic Development (GeoGlobal Energy, Ormat Technologies, Ram Power, Science Applications International Corp.), Environmental Stewardship (EnergySource, NV Energy, NCPA) and Special Recognition (Charlene Wardlow, Dan Schochet, Geothermal Development Associates, Hezy Ram, Jonathan Weisgall, Larry Nickerson, Marilyn Nemzer, POWER Engineers, Wendell Howard, Wendy Calvin).
