A new version of the ThermoGIS, web-based geographical information system to support geothermal development in the Netherlands has been updated.

An update has been published for ThermoGIS in the Netherlands. ThermoGIS is a public, web-based geographical information system with the main goal of supporting companies and the government to develop geothermal energy in the Netherlands. TNO used the abundance of available subsurface data and its broad knowledge of the Dutch subsurface to create ThermoGIS.

The new version has received a number of useful additions for users.

What is new with ThermoGIS 2.1:

  • Insight into the local structure of the subsurface with the “apple drill” in a fast and accessible way.
  • optimisation of the pump pressure to minimal cost price instead of to a cop (coefficient of performance) of 15
  • update of the heat pump scenario to allow a lower production water temperature than the return temperature
  • update of the online calculation tool
  • new borehole tool
  • added surface thematic layers
  • various updates to the website and map viewer
  • Increased ease of use through the addition of tool tips and an improved order of the tabs in the Mapviewer.

Since March 19, 2019, the new release ThermoGIS 2.1 is available on www.thermogis.nl.
