The U.S. DOE - Geothermal Technologies Office has published the 2022 Peer Review Report detailing a thorough review of 62 GTO-funded projects.

The U.S Department of Energy (DOE) Geothermal Technologies Office (GTO) has published the results of the Peer Review conducted back in May 2022, as we reported. The full Peer Review Report can be accessed at the GTO website or downloaded via this link.

Through peer reviews, the GTO is able to ass the progress and contribution of projects in their portfolio and identify strategies that will enhance their existing efforts. Qualified independent experts provide their high-level and strategic feedback that is instrumental for program planning. It also serves as an important public archive of GTO’s projects, progress, and goals.

The main goal of 2022 GTO Peer Review is to review and evaluate the progress and accomplishments of the GTO’s projects and the degree to which the projects have delivered results and have progressed technically, using the projects’ schedule and goals as the baseline.

61 projects across five technology panels were reviewed by 20 reviewers for the 2022 Peer Review. The technology panels were as follows:

  • Data, Modeling, and Analysis
  • Exploration and Characterization
  • Resource Maximization
  • Subsurface Accessibility
  • Subsurface Enhancement and Sustainability

For the complete list of GTO projects reviewed during the event and their corresponding feedback, please see the 2022 Peer Review Report.
