This video of the 7.4 MW Iwate Chinetsu (also known as Matsuo Hachimantai) geothermal power plant in Gozaisho, Hachimantai, Iwate prefecture in Japan, was shared today by Visualize Iwate on YouTube. Great to see some footage of this plant.
The plant started operation in 2019, is a single flash unit with 7.49 MWe installed power generation capacity. It was the first plant larger than 7 MW was put into operation in Japan in 22 years. In consideration of the surrounding landscape, the buildings are of a similar color and are set at a certain distance from the road to create a sense of openness.
