Wasabi Energy announces a $10 million agreement with Chinese Sinopec on building a 4 MW Kalina Cycle power plant, set up to generate electricity from waste heat, with potential implications for geothermal activities in the country.

Wasabi Energy has annoucned it has secured an EPC contract with Chinese oil giant Sinopec for its Kalina Cycle power plant.

It is for a 4 MW Kalina Cycle system that will be used for electricity generation from waste heat from a chemical plant.

So while this is not for a geothermal plant, Shenghe NewEnergy Resources Science and Technology, as a subsidiary of Wasabi Energy, sees this as the basis for a “larger scale roll out and establishing engineering teams to cover a global expansion in geothermal and waste heat,’ John Byrne, the chairman of Wasabi Energy announced.
