In preparation to the upcoming European Heat Summit, organised in conjunction with the Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern geothermal conference in Munich, the European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC) and Enerchange have announced a Webinar titled “Geothermal Heat: Market Trends and Opportunities” on September 19, 2018.

The market for geothermal heat in Europe has enjoyed significant growth for the past 5 years. Geothermal heat can be used for district heating and cooling, greenhouses and spas, while combined heat and power from geothermal power plants, with variable, controllable shares of heat or electric power, can serve as the energetic base of smart thermal grids. Today, there are nearly 300 geothermal district heating systems in operation in Europe, with a total installed capacity of about 5 GWth.
