Registration is open for the 2023 Calgary Geothermal Workshop to be held on 12 May 2023. In-person or virtual attendance is possible.

The third annual Calgary Geothermal Workshop will be held in hybrid format on 12 May 2023. In-person attendance is at the University of Calgary campus, while virtual participation is also possible. Registration to the event can be done via this link.

The event is hosted by the Energi Simulation Centre for Geothermal Systems (GeoS). The day’s agenda will include technical updates on work being conducted by GeoS researchers, research presentations from researchers from other universities across Canada, some technical updates from industry partners, and a discussion of new research directions and opportunities. The detailed program is not available yet but will be published at the official event website.

The workshop will be chaired by Dr. Roman J. Shor and Dr. Apostolos Kantzas, the Director and Associate Director of GeoS and members of the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Calgary.

Established in 2022, the Energi Simulation Centre for Geothermal Systems aims to support, expand, and develop new projects in the broader geothermal systems space, including projects in exploration and characterization, thermal characterization, thermal energy end uses, social license and policy. Today, GeoS consists of researchers representing four faculties across the university and an annual research budget of over $1M per year.
