Gross energy consumption in Iceland is predominantly geothermal, representing 69% of total consumption in 2013.

In the statistical Yearbook of Iceland 2014, Statistics Iceland published today key statistics of Iceland. One of the elements that stand out is the fact that 69% of gross energy consumption from Iceland came from geothermal. The rest comes from hydro energy (18%) and 14% from imported energy (oil and coal). In 1992 the share of imported energy was 34%.
