The Chilean Geothermal Energy Association (ACHEGEO) is holding its second International Congress on Geothermal Energy April 11-12, 2013 in Santiago, Chile expecting more than 400 attendees from around the world.

The upcoming International Congress on Geothermal Energy, ACHEGEO will take place April 11-12, 2013 in Santiago, Chile.

As part of our collaboration we had the chance to speak with representatives of the Chilean Geothermal Energy Association ACHEGEO.

1.What are ACHEGEO´s expectations for the organization of the II International Congress on Geothermal Energy, ACHEGEO 2013?

The first version of the International Congress on Geothermal Energy in 2011 exceeded all our expectations, was recognized internationally as a complete success and became a world reference. Therefore, in the second version of the event, on 11th and 12th April 2013, we expect to gather more than 400 attendees from around the world and accomplish great media coverage, both nationally and internationally.

2. In a few days the event will take place, have you seen a greater number of interested stakeholders compared to the last event, and what kind of companies and professional profile attend the conference?

Indeed, we have seen an increased interest from attendees who have registered in advance as well as sponsoring companies.

For the Association it is very rewarding to have the participation of the most important experts and companies in the field. This is definitely a very big support to the work we are doing to spread the geothermal industry in our country.

3. What’s new in this conference compared to the previous one?

Among the activities planned we will develop:

  • Geothermal Energy Industry Seminars
  • Geothermal Energy Technological Exposition Gallery and Hall
  • Social Activities
  • Scientific Poster Section

In addition, the Chilean Geothermal Energy Association, ACHEGEO, motivated to achieve a rapprochement among the different geothermal market players, will implement a business mechanism which will enable attendees to create new trade links among companies both nationally and internationally. This dynamic, called Business Roundtable, will take place through an online agendas generation system and one to one pre-agreed meetings, in order to exchange information and technology solutions, offering services and advisory services, among others.

4. What are the points to be addressed in this conference?

The topics to be addressed by more than 30 exhibitors will cover legislation, the electricity market, environmental aspects, exploration techniques, well design, drilling, reservoir management, security, human capital, low enthalpy geothermal, analysis of national and international cases, among others.

All those who wish to attend the event can access the registration form available at the official website of the Congress: http://www.achegeo.cl/congreso2013. There you will find the steps to register and modalities for participation.

Finally, noteworthy is that this initiative reflects the commitment which the Professional Association has acquired since its inception in 2009, to create places which allow the transfer of knowledge and the exchange of ideas among all relevant players, to achieve real development of the geothermal industry in our country.
